Staircases, a tricky place to quantify

No more endless trips to the carpet shop where you purchased your broadloom! You can now know exactly how much carpet you need from the very beginning. To do so, measure your staircase, including the number of steps, their depth and their width. Remember to include the height of the riser.

With this information now in hand, you will be able to calculate the quantity of broadloom required to carpet your staircase.

How much do I need to carpet a room?

Not so good at judging by sight? What if all the will in the world were now enough to reach your goals? Here is a little advice to help you out...

First and foremost, you must carefully measure the longest length and width of the room to be decorated, both in centimetres and metres. It is customary to add 10 cm to these measurements to avoid any nasty surprises. Especially as your walls will not always be perfectly straight, so this will give you some wiggle room to adjust the carpet if need be.

Depending on the size of your room, your carpet needs will of course vary. If, for instance, you are looking to redecorate a room that requires several strips of carpet, determine your needs by directing connections towards the least visible areas of the room or perpendicular to the natural light flow. Lastly, if you go for a patterned carpet, make sure you have an extra pattern in each way.
