Hotel: tip for avoiding leaving marks when laying wide carpet strips
Arm yourself with an iron and terry towel and proceed as follows.
Both decorative and insulating, broadloom carpet is often chosen by major hotels as floor covering. Given your large rooms, wide strips of carpet are often required. Perhaps you have noticed some marks caused by storing or transporting the roll? No need to panic! Here is a tip to smooth them out :
How?
Step 1: After having placed the carpet in the room and before gluing it down, get an iron and terry towel.
Step 2: Insert the towel between the carpet and iron.
Step 3: Iron a few times using the iron's steam setting. The steam sprayed out onto the surface of the terry towel comes into contact with the upper part of the fibre. The winding mark disappears instantly.
Remember to never use the iron directly on the carpet.
An alternative to this process consists in using a standard water spray to dampen the carpet's surface. Make sure it does not get too wet though. Once the carpet is slightly damp, simply leave it to dry.
