Office: what criteria should be respected for optimal carpet laying?
Depending on the project, the work site will be prepared differently. Explanation of the various options
Make sure your office is operational
Carpet tiles are the most popular floor covering for offices. We recommend that you call upon a professional for more peace of mind before, during and after the tiles are laid in your office space.
You can nonetheless prepare the site beforehand to ensure optimal product durability and trouble-free laying.
For beautifully laid carpet, make sure the temperature is at least 12°C. A humidity test must also be conducted to ensure a rate of 65% is not exceeded. Make the most of this time to check the watertightness of your offices' heating system. The rooms to be carpeted must be closed and covered to ensure optimal tile adherence.
Recommendations that differ according to the type of floor
If your floor is made of concrete, it must be dry and fully stabilised. Once laid, the floor will need to comply with national construction standards and regulations. The screed's humidity rate must not exceed 5%.
If your floor is made of wood, it must be smooth, suitably hard and rigid, and must not present any bumps or stains. Any joints must therefore be filled and sanded by the person conducting the work in the office space.
If your floor is raised, it must comply with the DTU 57.1 French building regulation, and the tiles must be laid so that their joints do not align with those of the underlying floor. The preparation product must not penetrate into the individual items so as not to complicate later work.
Once these steps have been completed, your offices are finally ready for the carpet tiles!
