Cleaning the carpet: What is injection/extraction?
It is an deep cleaning method that treats the whole length of the carpet's fibres. A detergent solution is diluted in warm water and removes dirt through injection. The next step is suction which picks up the injected detergent and dirt.
Depending on how intense you want the cleaning in your hotel to be, please note that this process has the advantage of being appropriate for use in two situations: periodic maintenance and "renovation" cleaning. The first consists of treating areas with high-volume traffic only. Conversely, "renovation" cleaning means that the carpet's entire surface is treated.
Injection/extraction step by step
This cleaning method includes the following steps:
Step 1: Work in a succession of parallel lines, remaining as straight as possible. In areas with high-volume traffic, it is better to move in the opposite direction to the carpet's pile. To avoid leaving any marks, try and cover each line with a third of the cleaning nozzle's width. Repeat the operation in areas with stubborn stains by going over once more.
Step 2: After each cleaning process, go over the entire surface a second time immediately without any detergent, simply using the vacuum cleaner.
Step 3: Repeat steps 1 and 2 with water to remove any traces of detergent from the carpet.
Step 4: During the drying phase - which lasts between 6 and 12 hours - it is important that no one should walk on the carpet. The drying time can be reduced thanks to special air blowers.
For hassle-free injection/extraction
As a form of textile flooring, carpet is highly sensitive to chemical products. The detergent to be used must thus be chosen carefully to avoid permanent damage: alkaline products, whitening agents and oxidants are unsuitable. For the same reason, the detergent's pH level must be lower than 8. The technical sheet also specifies that the recommended product dosage should not be exceeded.
In practice, keeping the floor from prolonged or repeated humidity is crucial to prevent the carpet from discolouring, shrinking, turning yellow or losing its backing. It is actually not recommended to perform injection/extraction procedures on carpet tiles.
Lastly, as a precaution, include an anti-foaming agent in your machine's recovery tank.
